Holder's Brewery Ltd enamel tray dating from the 1900s.
In 1867 Henry Holder invested in a brewery which was located in Gem Street, Birmingham.
By 1869 the business moved to New Thomas Street and a new brewery was acquired. In 1875 Henry Holder's son, John Charles Holder, took over the running of the Midland Brewery. In 1889 Henry Holder died and in that year John moved to another site on Nova Scotia Street. John led the business through a period of growth. Sales and production increased significantly, and by the turn of the century, the Company owned 300 public houses. A bottling plant was built in the early 1890s and the Company was registered as Holder's Birmingham Brewery Ltd. In 1900 the Company acquired the City Brewery Ltd on Cato Street North in Nechells, adding another 40 public houses to its estate. The Nechells brewery was sold to the Vale of Evesham Brewery. Another brewery, Arthur James Price Lewisham Brewery of West Bromwich and its 30 tied houses, was puchased in 1908.
The Midland Brewery was acquired by Mitchells & Butlers Ltd in 1919 and the Midland Brewery was closed in 1923.
To be honest I'm not sure whether this is a tray or an advertising plaque/plate but if it's a tray it's a lovely early example
