Ind Coope & Co Ltd black backed steel tray dating from the 1890's. The brewery was registered in 1886 as Ind Coope & Co Ltd. The company owned two breweries, the Star Brewery in Romford and the Burton Brewery. After going into administration in 1909 the company changed its name to Ind Coope & Co (1912) Ltd and reverted back to Ind Coope & Co Ltd in 1923. The business merged with Samuel Allsopp & Sons Ltd in 1934 to form Ind Coope & Allsopp Ltd. The name was simplified to Ind Coope Ltd in 1959. In 1961 the company merged with Ansells Ltd and Tetley Walker Ltd later becoming Allied Breweries Ltd in 1963. Allied Breweries merged with the food and catering company J.Lyons & Co to form Allied Lyons in 1978. The breweries business merged with Carlsberg and became Carlsberg-Tetley Brewing Ltd in 1992. That year the Star Brewery in Romford closed. Carlsberg-Tetley sold the Burton Brewery to Bass Charrington Ltd in 1997 and after a further series of takeovers and name changes it is now owned by Molson-Coors and operates as the Burton North Brewery. I would deraly love to add this magnificant tray to my collection.
