Bass, Mitchells & Butlers Ltd tin tray dating from the 1960s. The company owned two breweries at the time the tray featured was produced, the orignal Bass brewery based in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire and the Cape Hill Brewery based in Smethwick, West Midlands. The tray advertises ales from both breweries.

Bass, Ratcliff & Gretton Ltd merged with Worthington & Co. Ltd in 1927 although the two businesses continued to operate as separate concerns. Bass, Ratcliff & Gretton Ltd merged with Mitchells & Butlers Ltd in 1961 to form Bass, Mitchells & Butlers Ltd. The company then merged with Charrington United Breweries Ltd in 1967 to form Bass Charrington Ltd. The Worthington brewery, based in Burton-on-Trent, closed in 1967 whilst the original Bass brewery, also based in Burton-on-Trent, closed in 1971. Mitchells & Butlers Ltd Cape Hill Brewery eventually closed in 2002. The tray featured was produced just before the merger with Charrington United Breweries Ltd and advertises ales from all three breweries. The manufacturer's mark states - 6 MB Made in Great Britain.
