J.Arkell & Sons Ltd enamel tray dating from the 1920s. The Kingsdown brewery is based in Stratton St. Margaret, Swindon, Wiltshire.

J.Arkell & Sons Ltd enamel tray dating from the 1920s. The business was founded in 1843 by John Arkell at Lower Stratton, near Swindon. A new Kingsdown Brewery was built in 1861 at Stratton St. Margaret, Swindon. In 1877 maltings were erected on the site. In 1927 the Company was registered as J.Arkell & Sons Ltd and a bottling plant was built that year. The Company owns around 100 public houses and is still brewing independently. An exact version of this tray was reproduced in tin both during the 1960s and the 1970s.
