Everard's Brewery Ltd Round Tin

Everard's Brewery Ltd hammered gold tin tray dating from the 1960s. The Company was founded in 1849 when Thomas Hull and William Everard leased the brewery in Southgate Street, Leicester. In 1893 they acquired the Bridge Brewery, Burton-on-Trent, from Henry Boddington & Co. Everards closed the Bridge Brewery in 1898 as it proved too small for the firm's output. In the same year Everards leased the Trent Brewery in Anglesey Road, Burton-on-Trent, from the Trent Brewery Co. which was in liquidation. The Trent Brewery was purchased outright in 1901. The Company was registered as W.Everard & Co. Ltd in 1925. The Southgate Brewery was closed in 1932 and converted into a distribution centre. All brewing was concentrated at the Trent Brewery, later renamed the Tiger Brewery in 1972, Burton-on-Trent, whilst its packing and distribution was operated from the old Southgate Brewery in Leicester. The Company was re-registered as Everard's Brewery Ltd in 1936. In 1983 the Tiger Brewery ceased its mainstream production and the name was changed to the Heritage Brewery Ltd (Burton). For two years Everard's beers were contract brewed until the opening of the Company's new Castle Acres Brewery in 1985. Brewing ceased at the Castle Acres Brewery in 2017 and the brewery was demolished shortly afterwards. Everard's ales were contract brewed again by various breweries until the new Everards Meadow Brewery at Fosse Park, near Leicester, opened in 2022. The manufacturer's mark states - Samuel Groves & Co. Ltd.
