Chesters Brewery Co. Ltd ceramic jug dating from the 1940s. The brewery was based in Ardwick, Greater Manchester.

Chesters Brewery Co. Ltd ceramic jug dating from the 1940s. The business was founded in 1830 at the Victoria Brewery and traded as Collins & Chesters from 1842. A new Ardwick Brewery was opened in 1852. The Company was registered as Chesters Brewery Co. Ltd in 1888. The Ardwick Brewery was taken over by Threlfall's Brewery Co. Ltd in 1961 to form Threlfall Chesters Ltd. The Ardwick Brewery was closed in 1966 and demolished in 1967. Brewing of Chesters beers continued at Threlfall's Cook Street Brewery in Salford. Thelfall's Cook Street Brewery, and its other brewery located on Trueman Street in Liverpool, was acquired by Whitbread & Co. Ltd in 1967. Chesters bitters, milds & stouts continued to be brewed at other Whitbread sites and also contracted out to Burtonwood Brewery Co. (Forshaws) Ltd and Everard's Brewery Ltd. Sadly the beers and the name disappeared completely in 1999.
