Chester Northgate Brewery Co. Ltd black backed steel tray dating from the 1930s. The business was founded in 1760 at the Golden Falcon Hotel. A new brewery was built on the same site in the 1850s and the Company traded as Chester Northgate Brewery. In 1889 the business was registered as Chester Northgate Brewery Co. Ltd. The Company was acquired by Greenall Whitley & Co. Ltd in 1949, brewing ceased in 1969, and the site was demolished in 1971. The manufacturer's mark states - Reginald Corfield Ltd Lombard Road. London. S.W.19. Another almost identical tray was manufactured earlier in the 1930s but does not have a maker's mark or have the four dimples as displayed in this picture.
