Charlton Brewery Co Ltd Round Black Backed Steel

Charlton Brewery Co Ltd black backed steel tray dating from the 1920's. The company was acquired by Bristol United Breweries Ltd in 1937. Bristol United Breweries Ltd were themselves taken over by Bristol Brewery Georges & Co Ltd in 1956. Bristol Brewery Georges & Co Ltd were acquired by Courage, Barclay, Simonds & Co Ltd in 1961 and this was the time that the Charlton Brewery ceased brewing. Courage Ltd (as it was renamed in 1970) made use of the site as a depot until the late 1970's. The manufacturer's mark states - Causton's Manufacturers, London.
