Charlton Brewery Co. Ltd black backed steel tray dating from the 1920s. The brewery was operated by Francis Berryman from 1844. The Company was registered as Berryman, Burnell & Co. Ltd in 1894 and the name was changed to the Charlton Brewery Co. Ltd in 1902. The Company was acquired by Bristol United Breweries Ltd in 1937. Bristol United Breweries Ltd was taken over by Bristol Brewery Georges & Co. Ltd in 1956. Bristol Brewery Georges & Co. Ltd was acquired by Courage, Barclay, Simonds & Co. Ltd in 1961 and this was the time the Charlton Brewery ceased brewing. Courage Ltd, as it had been named in 1970, made use of the site as a depot until the late 1970s.
