Burtonwood Brewery plc tin tray dating from the late 1960s. The brewery was founded in 1867 by James and Jane Forshaw and was registered in 1910 as the Burtonwood Brewery Co. Ltd. In 1949 the Company was re-registered as the Burtonwood Brewery Co. (Forshaws) Ltd. After becoming public in 1964 the Company name changed to Burtonwood Brewery plc. In 1998 Burtonwood Brewery plc merged with Thomas Hardy Brewers of Dorset. The new Company was renamed Thomas Hardy Burtonwood. In 2004 their pub estate was sold to Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries Ltd. Thomas Hardy Burtonwood continued as an independent brewer, bottler and packaging business. In 2015 the brewing arm was purchased by Molson-Coors UK Ltd who recently announced the closure of the brewery in 2021. The bottling and packaging business continues to operate as Thomas Hardy Brewing & Packaging. The manufacturer's mark states - 6 MB
