Birkenhead Brewery Co. Ltd tin tray dating from 1960.
The company owned two breweries, the Anchor Brewery and the Argyle Brewery, both based in Birkenhead, Merseyside.
Birkenhead Brewery Co. Ltd tin tray dating from 1960.
The Company was registered in 1865 as the Birkenhead Amalgamated Brewery Co. Ltd to merge Aspinall's Anchor Brewery on Livingstone Street and Cook's Argyle Brewery on Oxton Road, both in Birkenhead.
The business was re-registered as the Birkenhead Brewery Co. Ltd in 1872.
The Anchor Brewery was rebuilt in 1900.
The Company merged with Threlfall Chesters Brewery Co. Ltd in 1962 and the Argyle Brewery was closed that year. Threlfall Chesters Brewery Co. Ltd was acquired by Whitbread & Co. Ltd in 1967. The Anchor Brewery ceased brewing in 1968.
I am seeking the tray pictured in much better condition, either the small round version or the larger round tray.
