Ballingall & Son Ltd tin tray dating from 1950. The Park Brewery and the Pleasance Brewery were both based in Dundee, Tayside.
Ballingall & Son Ltd tin tray dating from 1950. The Pleasance Brewery was founded in Dundee before 1750 and was acquired by William Ballingall in 1844 trading under the name of Ballingall & Son. In the late 1800s under the leadership of his son Hugh Ballingall, the Pleasance Brewery was enlarged and rebuilt and a second brewery, the Park Brewery, was added in 1881. The Company was registered as Ballingall & Son Ltd in 1897. In 1964 brewing ceased when the business was taken over by Drybrough & Co. Ltd which continued to supply Ballingall's pubs with their own beers brewed in Edinburgh. Drybrough & Co. Ltd were themselves acquired by Watney Mann Ltd in 1965 and in 1968 Ballingall's licensed houses were purchased by them. Ballingall & Son Ltd ceased to trade in 1968. The manufacturer's mark states - Reginald Corfield Ltd Lombard Road, London.S.W.19.
