Atkinson's Brewery Ltd Round Tin

Atkinson's Brewery Ltd hammered gold tin tray dating from the 1950s. The business was founded as Atkinson Brothers in 1855. The Company and its Aston Park Brewery were registered as Atkinson's Brewery Ltd in 1898. In the 1910s and 1920s the Company acquired three breweries including the sizeable business of Peter Walker & Co. Ltd of Burton-on-Trent in 1925. In 1950 Atkinson's acquired Twist's Brewery Ltd of Walsall. The Aston Park Brewery was acquired by Mitchells & Butlers Ltd in 1959. Mitchells & Butlers Ltd merged with Bass, Ratcliff & Gretton Ltd forming Bass, Mitchells & Butlers Ltd in 1961 and the Aston Park Brewery closed shortly afterwards in 1962. The manufacturer's mark states - Samuel Groves & Co. Ltd.
