Archibald Campbell, Hope & King Ltd tin tray dating from the 1950s. The Argyle Brewery is reputed to have been established in 1710. The Company was registered in 1896 to acquire the Argyle Brewery based in Edinburgh and Hope & King wine and spirit merchants based in Glasgow. Archibald Campbell, Hope & King Ltd was acquired by Whitbread & Co. Ltd in 1967. Its public houses were sold to Drybrough & Co. Ltd, Vaux & Associated Breweries Ltd and Thomas Usher & Son Ltd in 1969 and brewing ceased in 1970. The manufacturer's mark states - Reginald Corfield Ltd Lombard Road, London, S.W.19.
