{"id":4480,"date":"1970-01-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"1970-01-01T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/?post_type=product&#038;p=4480"},"modified":"2025-12-12T14:27:35","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T14:27:35","slug":"william-gaymer-son-ltd-small-round-tin","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/product\/william-gaymer-son-ltd-small-round-tin\/","title":{"rendered":"William Gaymer &#038; Son Ltd Small Round Tin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>William Gaymer &amp; Son Ltd tin tray dating from the 1960s.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Origins of the Norfolk Firm<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The origins of the Norfolk firm date from the 17th century.<br \/>\nThe modern founder of the business was the second William Gaymer who, by the mid 1800s, built the family business to the point where it employed 400 men, had a London office, held a Royal Warrant, traded strongly in the export market, and was a household name.<br \/>\nBefore the turn of the 20th century Gaymers had won seven awards at Royal Agricultural Shows and The Royal Horticultural Society&#8217;s silver Banksian Medal.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The Attleborough Factory<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In 1896 Gaymers moved its business from Banham to Attleborough.<br \/>\nThe Company was registered in 1906 as William Gaymer &amp; Son Ltd.<br \/>\nIn 1940 the factory was seriously damaged by enemy bombing, which resulted in a reconstruction which was completed in 1947.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Showerings Ltd Acquisition<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In 1961 the Company was acquired by Showerings Ltd in Shepton Mallet.<br \/>\nShowerings merged with Allied Breweries Ltd in 1968 and the Company became Allied-Lyons plc.<br \/>\nThe cider business was demerged via a management buyout in 1992, and a new Company called the Gaymer Group was formed.<br \/>\nIn 1994 the Gaymer Group was purchased by Matthew Clark plc which transferred all its production to Shepton Mallet.<br \/>\nThe Attleborough factory was closed in 1995.<br \/>\nMatthew Clark was purchased by Constellation Brands in 1998 which sold the Company to the C&amp;C Group PLC in 2010.<br \/>\nIn 2016 it was announced that production would be transferred from Shepton Mallett to Clonel in Ireland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>William Gaymer &amp; Son Ltd tin tray dating from the 1960s.<br \/>\nThe Company was based in Attleborough, Norfolk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":10197,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":""},"product_brand":[],"product_cat":[366],"product_tag":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-4480","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-cider-trays","8":"first","9":"instock","10":"shipping-taxable","11":"purchasable","12":"product-type-simple"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product\/4480","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/product"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=4480"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/10197"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4480"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"product_brand","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_brand?post=4480"},{"taxonomy":"product_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_cat?post=4480"},{"taxonomy":"product_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_tag?post=4480"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
