The Aston Park Brewery was located on Queen&#8217;s Road, Aston, Birmingham.<br \/>\nIn 1888 the Company&#8217;s three letter &#8216;A&#8217;s trade mark was registered.<br \/>\nThe Company, and its Aston Park Brewery, was registered as Atkinson&#8217;s Brewery Ltd in 1898.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The Acquisition Years<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the 1910s and 1920s the Company acquired three breweries.<br \/>\nIn 1919 Atkinson&#8217;s took over George Hill of Blakenhall, near Wolverhampton, and purchased Rogers &amp; Calcutt Ltd, of Wolverhampton, in 1925.<br \/>\nHowever the most sizeable acquisition was that of Peter Walker &amp; Co. Ltd of Burton-on-Trent in 1925, with 100 tied houses.<br \/>\nThe Company&#8217;s last purchase was Twist&#8217;s Brewery Ltd of Walsall in 1950, with 20 public houses.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Takeover and Closure<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Aston Park Brewery was acquired by Mitchells &amp; Butlers Ltd in 1959.<br \/>\nMitchells &amp; Butlers Ltd merged with Bass, Ratcliff &amp; Gretton Ltd forming Bass, Mitchells &amp; Butlers Ltd in 1961, and the Aston Park Brewery with over 200 public houses, closed shortly afterwards in 1962.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of only three pre 1970 plastic trays I have in my entire collection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Atkinson&#8217;s Brewery Ltd plastic tray dating from the late 1940s.<br \/>\nThe Aston Park Brewery was based in Birmingham, West Midlands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":12113,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":""},"product_brand":[],"product_cat":[377],"product_tag":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-4237","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-england-1940s","8":"first","9":"instock","10":"shipping-taxable","11":"purchasable","12":"product-type-simple"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product\/4237","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/product"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=4237"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/12113"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4237"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"product_brand","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_brand?post=4237"},{"taxonomy":"product_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_cat?post=4237"},{"taxonomy":"product_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_tag?post=4237"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
