{"id":4073,"date":"1970-01-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"1970-01-01T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/?post_type=product&#038;p=4073"},"modified":"2025-12-12T12:29:52","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T12:29:52","slug":"castletown-brewery-ltd-round-aluminium","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/brewerytrays.co.uk\/wp\/product\/castletown-brewery-ltd-round-aluminium\/","title":{"rendered":"Castletown Brewery Ltd Round Aluminium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Castletown Brewery Ltd aluminium tray dating from the late 1950s.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The Castle Rushen Brewery in Castletown<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the 1860s and 1870s, Messrs Quayle and Usher were brewing at the Castle Rushen Brewery in Castletown, on the Isle of Man.<br \/>\nThe partnership was dissolved in 1880, and Thomas Frederick Usher continued to run the business on his own.<br \/>\nThe brewery was then operated by Theodore Sherlock and Edward Tucker, trading as T.E.Tucker &amp; Co.<br \/>\nAfter Sherlock&#8217;s death, Tucker ran the business on his own before he registered the business as the Castletown Brewery Ltd in 1890.<br \/>\nImprovements were made to the brewery soon after registration.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Isle of Man Breweries Ltd<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In 1899, The Isle of Man Breweries Ltd, was formed to acquire the Castletown Brewery Ltd, Woolf Brothers Ltd, with its Castle Hill Brewery and mineral water factory, based in Ballaughton, and the Ramsey Brewery Co. of Ramsey.<br \/>\nAll brewing activities were concentrated in Castletown.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Castletown Brewery Ltd 1906 to 1986<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Company was re-registered, and renamed the Castletown Brewery (1906) Ltd after its parent Company was liquidated.<br \/>\nThe Castletown Brewery was acquired by Hope &amp; Anchor Breweries Ltd in 1946.<br \/>\nIt was re-registered as the Castletown Brewery Ltd in 1948, to acquire the Castletown Brewery (1906) Ltd, and Clinch &amp; Co.
