Imperial Brewery, based in Bedminster.<br \/>\nBrewing continued at two of the breweries, the St. Paul&#8217;s Brewery until 1912, and the Lewins Mead Brewery until 1956.<br \/>\nIn 1897 Bristol United Breweries Ltd purchased Daniel Sykes &amp; Co. Ltd closing it in 1903.<br \/>\nIn 1925 the Company acquired a controlling interest in the Oakhill Brewery Co. Ltd, and brewing ceased in 1938. Oakhill Stout was adopted from the Oakhill Brewery and is featured on the tray.<br \/>\nIn 1937 the Company acquired the brewery and maltings of Charlton Brewery Co. Ltd based in Shepton Mallet, later closed by Georges in 1961.<br \/>\nThe Lewins Mead Brewery was damaged by a German air attack in 1940.<br \/>\nBy the time Bristol United Breweries Ltd, and its Lewins Mead Brewery, was acquired by Bristol Brewery Georges &amp; Co. Ltd in 1956, it had amassed 600 public houses which were also included in the deal.
