Partners Richard Booth and John Baxter owned the Haslingden Brewery before 1850.
The partnership was dissolved when John Baxter left to the business acquire the Glen Top Brewery in Waterfoot.
Richard Booth became the brewery's sole owner.
William Hudson Baxter joined his brother at the Glen Top Brewery in 1855.
When Richard Booth was fatally scalded in 1883 the Haslingden Brewery was purchased by William Baxter from the Richard Booth's executors.
The firm traded as W.H.Baxter.

Around 1900 the Company was registered as William Hudson Baxter & Co. Ltd.
The Haslingden Brewery was acquired by John Baxter in 1922 with 38 public houses and off-licences.
