Brewery Foundation
The brewery was founded on Henshaw Street in Oldham at the end of the 19th century.
It was owned by Amos Ashton in 1906, and later by Frederick Birchenough.
According to his diaries, the brewery was acquired by Charles Frederick Hyde in 1912.
The firm traded as C.F.Hyde & C.W.Battersby until 1918 when it was registered as the Welcome Brewery Co. Ltd with three public houses.
Hope & Anchor Breweries Ltd Takeover
The Company was acquired by Hope & Anchor Breweries Ltd in 1959 when its main business was the supply of local clubs.
Brewing ceased that year.
The manufacturer's mark states - "Hancor", Mitcham.
