Foundation & Early Trading
Walker & Homfrays was founded in 1884. It first brewed at the Sun Brewery on Ford Lane in Salford.
It moved to the Woodside Brewery on Wilmslow Street in Salford in 1890.
The Company was registered as Walker & Homfrays Ltd in 1891.
After entering into liquidation in 1896 the Company was re-registered under the same name.
Acquisitions & Merger
In 1927 Walker & Homfrays Ltd acquired the Imperial Brewery of Stopford's Brewery Co. Ltd in West Gorton.
In 1929 the Company acquired Creese & Co. Ltd of Hyde with over 60 public houses and the brewery was closed that year.
Walker & Homfrays Ltd merged with Wilsons Brewery Ltd in 1949 with 149 public houses to form Wilson & Walker Breweries Ltd.
The name of the Company reverted to Wilsons Brewery Ltd in 1952.
The brewery was demolished after it ceased brewing.
