South Berkshire Brewery Co. Ltd ceramic matchstriker dating from the 1910s.
At the time the matchstriker was produced, the South Berkshire Brewery Co. Ltd owned four breweries; the Atlas Brewery and the West Mills Brewery both in Newbury, the Manor Brewery based in Hungerford and the Castle Brewery based in Reading.
All four breweries were based in the county of Berkshire.

Hawkins & Parfitt South Berkshire Brewery Co. Ltd
The Company was registered in 1897 as Hawkins & Parfitt South Berkshire Brewery Co Ltd after the amalgamation of Edmund Parfitt's Atlas Brewery and Thomas Edward Hawkins & Co.'s West Mills Brewery.
In 1898 the Company acquired John Platt & Son's Manor Brewery in Hungerford, and in 1910 it acquired Blandy, Hawkins & Co.'s Castle Brewery.
The South Berkshire Brewery Co. Ltd Registration & Closure
The name changed to the South Berkshire Brewery Co. Ltd in 1913.
The South Berkshire Brewery Co. Ltd was acquired by H. & G.Simonds Ltd in 1920.
The West Mills Brewery closed in 1920 as did the Castle Brewery, whilst both the Manor Brewery and the Atlas Brewery both closed in 1930.
