The Stourbridge Brewery

The Stourbridge Brewery was founded by John Wall in 1842.
In 1867 a fire damaged the original brewhouse which was rebuilt and began operating a year later.
The business, with its Stourbridge Brewery, later traded as Haskew, Whitwell and Hands.

North Worcestershire Breweries Ltd Registration

In 1896 the Company was registered as North Worcestershire Breweries Ltd to amalgamate the Stourbridge Brewery, the Rowley Brewery of Blackheath, the White Swan Brewery of Oldbury, and the Round Oak Brewery of Brierley Hill, with 135 public houses.
Brewing was concentrated at the Stourbridge Brewery.
After another fire in 1897 the brewery was reconstructed and enlarged.
In 1900 North Worcestershire Breweries Ltd was advertsing its beers as 'Brewed from the finest materials...and unsurpassed for Brilliance and Excellence of Flavour'.
In 1907 the Company purchased most of the public houses in Wolverhampton owned by the Manchester Brewery Co Ltd, once owned by James Henry Deakin.
The Stourbridge Brewery was acquired by Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries Ltd in 1909 with over 150 public houses.
The buildings were used as maltings until 1920.
