Dare's Brewery Ltd aluminium tray dating from the 1950s.
The buiness was founded in 1895 by William Dare where he brewed at the Turk's Head on Highgate Street in Birmingham,
William Dare & Son moved to Belgrave Road in Balsall Heath, Birmingham, in 1903, and began brewing at the South End Brewery.
The Company was registered in 1927 as Dare's Brewery Ltd.
Dare's remained a private company controlled by family members.
Over the years the firm brewed a range of traditional beers, including Dare's Gold Medal Bitter and Nut Brown Ale. In the 1960s Dare's Drum Bitter became a popular locals choice.
The South End Brewery, with its 40 public houses, was acquired by Davenport's Brewery Ltd in 1961. Included in the purchase was Dare's Drum Bitter brand which Davenports immediately adopted.
The site is now home to the Birmingham Central Mosque.
The tray featured was one I purchased in the year 2000, but sadly and mysteriously disappeared from my collection along with a few other aluminium and chrome trays.
