The Company was registered as the Bury Co-operative Brewing & Distilling Co. Ltd in 1861, and the name was changed to the Crown Brewing Company Ltd in 1866.
The firm were bottlers for Bass and Worthington beers in Burton-on-Trent, and D'Arcy's stout, in Dublin.
The business was acquired by Dutton's Blackburn Brewery Ltd, with 127 public houses, in 1959.
Brewing ceased with the loss of 60 workers jobs.
The Crown Brewery site was demolished in 1967, after Dutton's Blackburn Brewery Ltd was taken over by Whitbread & Co. Ltd, in 1964.
Although there is no manufacturer's mark I am certain that it was produced by Hancock, Corfield & Waller Ltd.
