The Company was founded in Kings Cross in London in 1848, and traded as Robert Porter & Co.
The Company was a famous bottler of both Guinness and Bass Ales.
The firm exported across the world and during the 1880s it was awarded medals for the quality of its bottled ales.
In 1905 the Company was registered as Robert Porter Ltd.
In 1938 the Company amalgamated with its rival London bottler, Read Brothers Ltd, to form Export Bottlers Ltd.
Both Robert Porter & Co Ltd and Read Brothers Ltd used very similar bulldog trade marks on their advertising.
The Company continued trading until the 1970s.
