There were various owners of the Crown Brewery from the late 1870s, 1880s, and 1890s, including Sackville Lupton, John Joshua, H.White & Son, White Paxton & Co., and Henry Paxton.
The business was registered as the Crown Brewery Co. (Pontypool) Ltd in 1896 when it acquired Paxton & Co.
In 1900 Grove Johnson, the Crown Brewery's secretary manager acquired the Victoria Brewery, with 6 tied houses, from the estate of Ralph Brown based in Newport, Gwent.
Poor financial trading resulted in a receiver being appointed in 1901.
The Company was acquired by Andrew Buchan & Co. in 1902.
