Alexander Gordon & Co owned two breweries, the Caledonian Brewery on Caledonian Road in Islington which opened in 1852, and the other on Lyndhurst Road in Peckham which opened in 1876. The firm's offices were based on Blundell Street in Islington.
In 1888 nearly 300 employees worked for the Company.
In 1895 Alexander Gordon died leaving his two nephews, George William Gordon and Alexander Duncan Gordon to run the business.
The Company ceased trading in 1915.
Its offices on Blundell Street are still standing.
