Thomas Lamb Founder
The brewery was founded by Thomas Lamb on Barnes Street in Hetton-le-Hole in 1823.
In 1860 Thomas Lamb purchased the Warkworth Brewery of F H Lamb & Co. Ltd, which had been trading before 1783.
Thomas Lamb traded as the sole proprietor until 1884 when he was joined by his sons.
The quality of its beers was recoginised at the London Brewing & Allied Trades National Exhibition in 1913 when it was awarded two First Prize Silver Medals & Diplomas.
Thomas Lamb & Sons Ltd Registration
The Company was registered as Thomas Lamb & Sons Ltd in 1917.
The name was changed to Thomas Lamb & Sons (Hetton-le-Hole) Ltd in 1920.
The business, with 40 tied houses, was acquired by Vaux & Associated Breweries Ltd in 1925.
The Warkwoth Brewery was acutioned off in 1927.
Brewing ceased in 1929.
