The First 70 Years
The business was founded on Regent Street in Burslem in 1860 and began trading as Henry Parker.
The Company was registered as Parker's Burslem Brewery Co. Ltd in 1889 with 110 public houses.
The firm acquired Frederick Job Ridgway of Newcastle-under-Lyme with 23 public houses in 1915.
In 1921 it purchased Dix & Co. Ltd with its Shelton Brewery and 31 public houses. The brewery was closed in 1933 and all brewing was transferred to Burslem.
Charles Bunting Ltd of Uttoxeter was acquired with 30 public houses in 1929. Parkers used the site as a distribution centre.
Ind Coope & Allsopp Ltd Takeover
The brewery was acquired by Ind Coope & Allsopp Ltd in 1949 with 468 tied houses.
Ind Coope Ltd, as it was renamed in 1959, merged with Tetley-Walker Ltd and Ansells Brewery Ltd in 1961.
In its later years is was named 'Ansells Burslem Brewery'.
The newly amalgamated business was renamed Allied Breweries Ltd in 1963 and closed the Burslem Brewery.
Most of the brewery buildings were demolished in the 1990s.
This is only one of a handful of plastic trays I have in my entire collection.
