The Commercial Brewery was founded on Canongate, in Edinburgh, in 1868. It was operated by Morison & Thomson until 1877 when it was acquired by J. & J.Morison.
The Company was registered as J. & J.Morison Ltd in 1946.
The Commercial Brewery was acquired by Scottish Brewers Ltd in 1960.
For a short time the brewery was used by Scottish Brewers Ltd for experimental brewing.
The Morison family and Scottish Brewers Ltd jointly created the JJ Morison Scholarship for International Brewers in the 1960s, which has brewing education at its forefront.
The Scholarship is still available.
The manufacturer's mark states - Reginald Corfield Ltd Lombard Road. London. S.W.19.
