The brewery was founded by Robert Chadwick on Walmersley Road in Bury, around 1840.
The Company was registered, with 43 public houses, as Chadwick's Walmersley Brewery Ltd in 1891.
In 1927 the business was acquired by the Manchester Brewery Co. Ltd, which was then a subsidiary of Walker & Homfrays Ltd, and was closed.
The brewery was destroyed by a fire in 2007.
