The Company was registered in 1888 as the Barnsley Brewery Co. Ltd, to acquire Paul & Guy Senior.
Early Victorian advertising for Paul & Guy Senior, shows that the Oak Well was split, presumably changing to one word, Oakwell, when the Company was registered.
