William Stones Ltd ceramic matchstriker dating from the 1910's. The Cannon Brewery was based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
William Stones Ltd ceramic matchstriker dating from the 1910's. The Cannon Brewery was acquired by Bass Charrington Ltd in 1968 and brewing ceased in 1998. Bass Charrington Ltd sold its brewing operations to the Belgian brewer Interbrew in 2000. The Competition Commission ordered Interbrew to sell the Stones brand in 2002 which they duly did to Coors, now called Molson Coors. Stones real ale is now brewed under contract at Everards Brewery Ltd whilst Stones keg is brewed at the old Tadcaster Tower Brewery. The manufacturer's mark states - Hancock & Corfield Ltd Advertising Specialists Mitcham Nr London
