R.W.Miller & Co. brass tray dating from 1887. The City Brewery was based in Hereford, Herefordshire.
R.W.Miller & Co. brass tray dating from 1887. The brewery on Maylord Street in Hereford was originally named the Steam Brewery. The Steam Brewery was acquired from George Home by R.W.Miller in 1887 and was renamed the City Brewery. The City Brewery with 80 public houses was sold to Arnold Perrett & Co. Ltd in 1889 when Miller moved to the Pale Ale Brewery in Stokes Croft, Bristol. Arnold, Perrett & Co. Ltd merged with the Cheltenham Orginal Brewery Co. Ltd in 1924 and the City Brewery remained open. The Company name was changed to Cheltenham & Hereford Breweries Ltd in 1945 and the City Brewery was closed under its ownership in 1948.
