Mellersh & Neale Ltd ceramic jug dating from the 1937. The brewery was based in Reigate, Surrey.

Mellersh & Neale Ltd ceramic jug dating from 1937. The Neale family were maltsters in Reigate. Thomas Neale founded a brewery in Church Street, Reigate, in 1801. In 1806 he purchased a second brewery on Bell Street in Reigate. The business traded as traded as Neale & Son until 1854 when Thomas Neale died. The business passed on to his sons who formed a partnership with Frederick Mellersh. The firm traded as Neale & Mellersh until the 1860s when it became Neale, Mellersh & Neale. In the 1880s the business traded as Mellersh & Neale becoming Mellersh & Neale Ltd when it was registered in 1899. The Bell Street premises extended onto Reigate High Street where the breweries offices were located. The brewery was acquired by Meux's Brewery Co. Ltd with 94 public houses in 1938 and brewing ceased. Meux's used the premises as a depot for its own London brewed beers. Mineral water manufacturing also continued at the site. The derelict offices burnt down in 1942 and use as a depot ceased shortly after the Second World War. Mineral water manufacturing ceased in 1963. The site remained derelict until it was redeveloped as a supermarket in 1988. The manufacturer's mark states - Made in England Royal Doulton England
