Ely Brewery Co. Ltd tin tray dating from the 1950s. The business was originally registered in 1887. The Company was acquired by Rhondda Valley Breweries Co. Ltd in 1920 and changed its name to Rhondda Valley & Ely Breweries Ltd. The Company name was changed again to Ely Brewery Co. Ltd in 1928. The brewery and its public houses was acquired by Rhymney Breweries Ltd in 1959 which was purchased by Whitbread & Co. Ltd in 1966. Brewing ceased at the Ely Brewery in 1978 and the business was closed in 1982. The manufacturer's mark states - Reginald Corfield Ltd Lombard Road. London. S.W.19.578
