Edinburgh United Breweries Ltd Robert Disher & Co, black backed steel tray dating from around 1910. The Company was registered in 1889 to acquire: Edinburgh and Leith Brewery Co., better known as Robert Disher & Co., G.Ritchie & Sons Bell's Brewery, David Nicolson Palace Brewery, and Robin McMillan & Co. Summerhall Brewery. Robin McMillan & Co.'s Summerhall Brewery closed in 1911. Both the Edinburgh and Leith Brewery and the Palace Brewery closed during WWI to conserve supplies. Bell's Brewery was closed by Customs & Excise in 1935 due to brewing irregularities and was acquired by John Jeffrey & Co. Ltd that year. The tray featured advertises Robert Disher & Co. whose Edinburgh & Leith Brewing Co was based in Canongate. The manufacturer's mark states - Wm Brownlie Ltd, Glasgow.
